Use 1 tsp per 8 oz cup, heat water to 208° steep for 3-4 minutes.
Rooibos (pronounced “ROY-bos”, Afrikaans for
“red bush”) is grown in a small region of the Western Cape province. Generally, the leaves are oxidized which
produces the distinctive reddish-brown color of Rooibos and enhances the
flavor. The flavor is often described as
naturally sweet and slightly nutty. Rooibos has become more popular in the
Western countries particularly among health-conscious consumers due to the high
level of antioxidants, lack of caffeine and low tannin levels compared to fully
oxidized black tea or an unoxidized green tea.
