Long Jing #43 is a a varietal that the producing at their small family operation . This varietal has very distinctive characteristics as other teas grown in the Laoshan Village in China.

The tea is grown in the greenhouse, under cover during the winter and into spring to protect from frost. When the leaves sprout, the covering is removed and the plants thrive in full sunlight until plucked.

Laoshan green tea has small, tippy leaves that are tightly rolled but not compressed. The leaves are pan fired which keeps their dark green color. The brewed tea is grassy, sweet and savory all at the same time.

• Use 2 heaping tsp per 6 oz cup, heat water to 175° and steep for 30 seconds. Subsequent steeps add 15 seconds per steep.

Tea has been grown in the Laoshan Village for generations.  The village is located in the Shandong Province of China at an altitude of just under 1000 feet.  Located close to the ocean and near the sacred mountain of Mount Lao, which is recognized and respected as the "cradle of Taoism".
